Chocolate Chip Cookies

These classic chocolate chip cookies are soft in the middle, crisp on the edges, and packed with melty chocolate chips.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla with electric mixer until creamy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

Storage: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.

Tip: For softer cookies, bake for the minimum time. For crispier cookies, bake a minute or two longer.
